The Koch brothers have joined with big polluters to block state incentives for renewable energy. The brothers and their allies are supporting a tax on solar energy panels. This tax would affect homeowner’s with solar panels but would also affect the RVs with solar energy panels. Oklahoma has recently approved a surcharge on Solar Energy Panels. The American Legislative Exchange Council is the conservative group responsible for dictating policy to Republicans in state legislators. They are funded by utility and fossil fuel companies. ALEC in conjunction with the Kochs have made similar attempts in other states but were beaten back by solar advocates in Kansas. The new surtax in Arizona was reduced to $5 per month.

This attack on Green Energy only gives RV owners more incentive to put RV Solar Systems in their home on wheels. The saving on gasoline to run generators, the clean energy produced by stored energy, the new tax incentives given by federal and state tax agencies all enhance the reason to set up RV Solar Systems. Although these systems are expensive, 4 solar panels 82” by 26” can produce 400 watts of power. Enough to run the lights and TV in a typical RV, which would save the camper from expensive RV parks used only to hook up electricity. The best thing is the camper, himself, will not need to breathe the fumes of a gas generator. With the right amount of batteries, an electric generator could be another wise investment.
